OVERVIEW

·         It was founded in Rome on 22nd November 1966.

·         It was formed by the merging of two associations - international federation of travel agencies association/Fédération Internationale Des Agences De Voyages (IFTAA) and universal organisation of travel agents association (UOTAA).

·         The General secretariat- Monaco.

·         UFTAA started its operation as a confederation on 1st January 2003.

·         It is a non-profit confederation of international scope.

·         It is a world wide body representing the travel agency and tourism industry.

·         it effectively represents travel agents and tour operators views on both inbound and outbound travel by continuous dialogue and consultation with other international organizations like international air transport association (IATA), international hotel and restaurant association(IHRA), and the International Road Union (IRU), World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), Health Organisation (WHO), UNESCO, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Forum of Travel and Tourism Advocates (IFTTA) and many others.

OBJECTIVES OF UFTAA

·         To act as the negotiating body with the various branches of tourism and travel industry on behalf of its members and also in the interest of public.

·         To ensure for all travel agents through their national association the maximum degree of cohesion and understanding, prestige and public recognition, etc. from legislation and legal point of view.

·         To offer to its member all the necessary professional and technical advice and assistance in matters concerning their trade.

FUNCTIONS OF UFTAA

·         To unite and consolidate the federations of travel agents a national association and to globally enhance the interests of their members.

·         To represent the travel agents activities before various worldwide bodies, governmental authorities and suppliers.

·         To work towards the adoption of measures that will ease travel for the consumer and to offer services to its member federations.

·          To be an investigation and information centre supporting the member federations work and to offer information for technological development.

·          To organize a world congress of travel agents and other meetings necessary to the exchange and transmission of knowledge.

·         The Executive Committee – Handles day to day activities and urgent matters. 

·         UFTAA World Congress – Advisory board of federation.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP OF UFTAA

It has 3 categories of membership:

a. Associations: UFTAA assists national associations in their contacts with associated authorities, globally.

Annual Fees: Annual Membership fee for Association Members is in two classifications, based on their membership. (2 UFTAA ID Cards with our compliments - for President/Chairman – Secretary or any two nominees of the Applicant association)

§  One-time admission fee of € 500

§  Associations with less than 250 Members - € 900

§  Associations with more than 250 Members - € 1800

The association relating to the following categories can register for the membership-

·         Tour operators (inbound and outbound) 

·         Tours/Sightseeing operators

·         Tourism agencies involved with specialized services like sports; medical; wellness; adventure; wild-life/safaris   

·         Companies in the business of hospitality  

·         MICE / Meetings / Congresses / Exhibition / Event organizers  

·         Transport/coach companies; car/cab/limo companies; 

·         Air Charter companies    

·         Allied service providers including “.com or online companies”   

·          Technology providers   

·         Education providers    

·         And associations who have members in any other related filed.  

b.     b.  Affiliates (Individual Agencies / Companies/ Service Providers): UFTAA provides provide events/forums for hand-shake and B-to-B interact opportunities. Affiliate membership is a great way for agencies/companies to go global and remain connected.

          Annual fees:

        An UFTAA ID Cards with our compliments - for one nominee of the    Applicant

  • §  One time Admission Fee : € 70
  • §  Applicants who are members of UFTAA ASSOCIATION MEMBER : € 100.
  • §  Applicants who are stand-alone agencies and not members of an UFTAA ASSOCIATION MEMBER : € 150.
